One of my favorite things about Adam Hamby – in addition to him being a great friend and all around wonderful human being – has always been watching him talk about his family.
If you know Adam, you know exactly what I mean. The moment he starts talking about his wife or his daughters, everything about him changes. His eyes brighten. His smile grows. You can see exactly why he fought so hard for the life he has today.
But getting there wasn’t easy.
In this episode of There Is Always a Way, Adam shares the story behind his ten years of sobriety. We talk about losing his brother, growing up surrounded by trauma, spending six months in jail after his fourth DUI, and the moment he finally realized he couldn’t keep living the way he was.
More importantly, we talk about what recovery has given him….To be clear….This isn’t just a conversation about quitting drinking. It’s a conversation about becoming present. About fatherhood. About choosing hope every single day. About discovering that recovery isn’t about what you leave behind—it’s about everything you gain.
I hope you’ll listen.
And if this conversation resonates with you, I hope you’ll continue listening to the other extraordinary guests in this limited series – Heather, Laura and Erin. Every story is different. Every path is unique. Together, they remind us of one simple truth that has become the heartbeat of this series—and of my own life:
There isn’t one right way to redefine your relationship with alcohol… but there is always a way.
If any part of this conversation felt familiar… if you found yourself quietly thinking, “I’ve never said that out loud, but I’ve felt it,” I want you to know something: I see you. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure this out by yourself. That’s exactly why I created the ReDefining Sober™ app. It’s the support I wish I’d had—a compassionate, personalized space filled with daily guidance, reflections, coaching, meditations, and practical tools to help you build a healthier relationship with alcohol and, more importantly, a life that feels like yours again.
