Seven years ago today, I walked into treatment believing I had failed.
Today, I know that asking for help wasn’t failure—it was the beginning of finding my way back to myself. In this personal opening episode of the special Limited Series of There Is Always a Way, I’m sharing my story as openly as possible because I want to normalize the conversation around alcohol and living without it. I don’t believe my journey is THE journey, but I know what it feels like to quietly wonder if life could be different… and I want anyone asking those same questions to know they’re not alone.
In this episode, I share about the warning signs I ignored, the ways I convinced myself my drinking was “normal,” the shame and secrecy that kept me stuck, the heartbreaking moments that finally led me to ask for help, and what the past seven years have taught me about healing, self-trust, and building a life I no longer wanted to escape.
This conversation is also the story behind the ReDefining Sober™ app—why I created it, what I’ve learned from walking alongside hundreds of women, and why I believe there isn’t one right way to redefine your relationship with alcohol.
More than anything, I hope this episode gives you permission. Permission to ask the questions you’ve been afraid to ask. Permission to believe change is possible. Permission to begin wherever you are.
And if this conversation resonates with you, I hope you’ll continue listening to the other extraordinary guests in this limited series – Heather, Adam, Laura and Erin. Every story is different. Every path is unique. Together, they remind us of one simple truth that has become the heartbeat of this series—and of my own life:
There isn’t one right way to redefine your relationship with alcohol… but there is always a way.
If any part of this conversation felt familiar… if you found yourself quietly thinking, “I’ve never said that out loud, but I’ve felt it,” I want you to know something: I see you. You’re not alone, and you don’t have to figure this out by yourself. That’s exactly why I created the ReDefining Sober™ app. It’s the support I wish I’d had—a compassionate, personalized space filled with daily guidance, reflections, coaching, meditations, and practical tools to help you build a healthier relationship with alcohol and, more importantly, a life that feels like yours again.
